I build AI tooling, automation, and full web apps and get them over the finish line - secure, compliant, and built to scale. The fractional CTO teams bring in when it absolutely has to ship.

Kody helped transform our start-up into a powerhouse that scaled to 200+ staff and $50M revenue in 2 years. He is a genius-level engineer and fantastic with people, leadership, and business outcomes. Ideal for any role requiring innovation, grit, and results.
Ross O'RourkeFormer CEO, IC-1 SolutionsKody excels at solving complex problems, communicating clearly, and delivering under pressure. He has built platforms from scratch, led innovation in challenging markets, and added value as both a technologist and strategic partner. Thoughtful, hard-working, and committed to excellence - I highly recommend him.

Zero to scale, then exit
Built the platform, led engineering
The problem
A staffing startup with no platform, competing against incumbents who had one. Growth was capped by how much work humans could process by hand.
What I built
The platform from scratch, then the engineering organisation around it. Client onboarding, matching, compliance and reporting all moved from spreadsheets into software that ran without being watched.
AI in a regulated market
CTO, current
The problem
Dental labs and clinics process scans through slow manual steps. Automating that means handling patient data, which puts every shortcut off the table: the pipeline has to be auditable from the first commit, not retrofitted before a review.
What I built
An AI pipeline that does the processing, built HIPAA-aware and SOC 2 ready from the start rather than bolted on later. Architecture, infrastructure and the compliance programme, end to end.
Agents doing the delivery work
Co-founder and CTO
The problem
SEO and AI-search visibility is sold as a monthly retainer and delivered by hand, so an agency's margin is capped by headcount. Adding clients means adding people.
What I built
An agentic pipeline that does the delivery: it audits a client site, decides what to change, writes the content, and publishes to the client's own CMS through their API. It runs monthly, per customer, without a human starting it.
Scaled a staffing company from zero to $50M revenue and 200+ staff, then a multi-million dollar exit serving 500+ clients.
Built and sold an ATS/HR onboarding SaaS with $400K ARR and 40+ clients.
Named inventor on five patent filings for SmileShape.ai.
Cut AWS costs by 70% for a DoD contractor.
Resolved tickets at 10x avg rate at AWS.
Equity owner in SmileShape.ai, PracticeRank.ai and Pastel Protein.
2024 - now
Chief Technology Officer
AI scan-processing pipeline, SOC 2 and HIPAA from the first commit. Named inventor on five patent filings.
2024 - now
Fractional CTO
A vendor management system (VMS) SaaS, a staffing company marketplace, and a staffing company.
2024 - 2025
Fractional CTO
Cut AWS costs 70%+ for a Department of Defense contractor by consolidating onto Kubernetes on EKS.
2018 - 2025
CTO, architect and founder
Founded and grew an applicant tracking SaaS to $400K ARR and 40+ customers. 7-figure exit.
2018 - 2024
VP of Product Development and Technical Director
Joined as a senior engineer, grew to lead 40 staff, and helped win $100M in new contracts. Acquired for 8 figures.
2017 - 2018
Senior systems engineer
Resolved tickets at 10x the average volume of cloud infrastructure engineers.
Two packages, priced by the week rather than the month, because a build is finished when it ships, not when the hours run out. Same hourly rate either way.
5 hours / week
$8,000/month
A day a week, near enough. Enough to own the architecture, build alongside your team and keep a real project moving without being your only engineer.
10 hours / week
$16,000/month
For building the thing itself: an agent, an agentic pipeline, an LLM product, or a company's first real platform. I am part of the team and the build is mine to land.
A la carte, no retainer: one conversation, one assessment, or one day with your team.
$950
90 minutes, one-off
One problem, worked live. Architecture review, an agent design, a build-or-buy call, or a second opinion on a plan. You get a written summary and recommendations after, so the value outlives the call.
Book thisFrom $4,500
About two weeks, fixed scope
A written assessment of where AI, agents and automation actually pay off in your business: what to build first, what it costs, what it saves, and what to leave alone. Credited against your first month if you continue on a retainer.
Book thisFrom $3,500
Half day, or $6,000 full day
Building with LLMs and agents, for engineers already shipping. Patterns that hold up in production, evaluation, cost control, and the failure modes nobody warns you about. Remote, or onsite plus travel.
Book thisStart with either package. If in the first month I haven't delivered a win worth more than you paid - automation that ships, an agent in production, an architecture call that saved you a quarter, or a cost or compliance fix - that month is on me. No lock-in, no long contracts, and no getting billed to learn your stack.
Book a callAn agent is an LLM given tools and a goal, so it can take steps rather than just answer. It earns its keep when a task is repetitive, needs judgement, and touches more than one system. When the work is a fixed sequence with no judgement in it, ordinary automation is cheaper, faster and easier to debug, and I will tell you when that is the case.
Several steps chained together where each one can use tools, call a model, and decide what happens next. The hard parts are not the prompts: they are evaluation, retries, guardrails, cost, and knowing when a run has quietly gone wrong. That is the work I do.
Yes. Architecture, build, launch, and the parts founders discover late: auth, billing, deliverability, compliance, and cost. I have taken products from nothing to shipped and scaled one to $50M in revenue.
Start by finding the work a machine should already be doing. Usually it is internal tooling, data plumbing and reporting rather than anything customer-facing. That work pays for itself and builds the foundation an agent needs later.
SEO is ranking in search results. AEO, answer engine optimization, is being the source ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews cite when they answer. It needs machine-readable structure: schema, llms.txt, and content written as direct answers. I build for both.
Yes, and it is why teams shipping AI into regulated work call me. Plenty of people will build you an agent. Far fewer can build one that passes an audit, handles PHI correctly, and survives a security review.
